Description: An Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens) in the "red eft" stage on North Fork Mountain in eastern West Virginia on September 3, 2012. The newt was only about 50 metres (160 ft) away from the mountain's "Chimney Top" outcropping. Much of the mountain is part of Monongahela National Forest.
