Description: The common leopard gecko, Eublepharis macularius, is just one of several species of leopard geckos (genus: Eublepharis). It is, however, the only one found commonly in captivity, and is one of the most widely kept reptile species in the world. As a member of the subfamily Eublepharinae, it has eyelids, a characteristic not normally seen in geckos. It also lacks the toe pads that allow many other geckos to climb vertical surfaces. Rex is one of my adopted animals from an owner that did not want her anymore. I did not name her Rex, but decided to keep the name. She could use some water and food, but is in otherwise decent health. She has had difficulty shedding though, which is evident by the blunt tips on many of her toes. She is also not as cooperative during photoshoots as this picture may lead you to believe. She likes to move.
