Description: Difference in root of quadratic equation using Excel. x^2 + b x + c = 0 as a function of b for two values of c; the direct evaluation of the quadratic formula is compared with the approximation for widely spaced roots, which doesn't have a round-off problem. The squiggly behavior at large b-values is round-off noise.
