Image: Flag of South Carolina (1875) (obverse)
Description: This South Carolina state flag was commissioned by the state for The Washington Light Infantry militia of Charleston, it was given to them in June of 1875. It was later taken to Bunker Hill Centennial and used to represent the state at the event. The flag is contains 2 different sides unlike the normal state flag. The front side (obverse) contains a blue background with a sliver crescent moon in the middle. This side of the flag is inference to Moultrie flag, a flag used during the American Revolution at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina. The flag was described as: "...On the oneside is the sliver crescent on a blue field, the Moultrie flag. On the other side, on a white field, is the palmetto, with the state motto Dum Spiro! Spero! in golden letters.." _ -The daily phoenix, June 12, 1875
