Description: A man in a hat with a Forstera sedifolia on the brim holds a New Zealand bellbird. A younger man is depicted drawing. According to the letters of Therese Huber[1], the painting was inherited by Carl Forster after the 1804 death of Justina Forster, the widow of Johann Reinhold Forster, and then given to JRF's granddaughter Iphigenie Alberthal (1789-1864).
