The monument was located on the Pullman residence property at East 18th Street and South Calumet Avenue in the Near South Side community area of Chicago. The surface of the sculpture was showing erosion, possibly by smoke from the Illinois Central Railroad. The sculpture was created by Carl Rohl-Smith.
