Description: In 1901 Andrew Carnegie gave $30,000 to the City of Fresno for a library building, provided that the City would tax itself $3,000 a year to support the facility. The City agreed, and land at 1330 Broadway Street was donated as a site for the new building. The cornerstone was laid on December 8, 1902, and construction was completed on April 2, 1904.
