Description: General Henry Lee. Copy after an engraving by Gilbert Stuart. Henry Lee (1756-1818), known as “Light Horse Harry,” was the father of Robert E. Lee and a close friend of George Washington. He was active in the American Revolution, served as Governor of Virginia (1792-1795), and was also a member of Congress (1795-1801).
