Description: (10,000 x 4138) Along the Cape Royal Road on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is where the Roosevelt Point Trail begins. The trail a short, secluded woodland loop has spectacular views. Benches are located at intervals along the trail for relaxed enjoyment of the scenery. 0.2 mi. / 0.3 km round-trip; 20 minutes approximate round-trip. This view is looking towards the east. Roosevelt Point was named after President Theodore Roosevelt, who in 1919, declared the Grand Canyon a National Park. He said, "Leave it as it is. You can not improve on it. You can only mar it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is keep it for your children, your children's children, and for all who come after you, as one of the great sights which every American, if he can travel at all, should see."
