Description: Hawthorne plantation house as it appeared in 1898 — in Prairieville, Hale County, Alabama. It was built in 1835, and later remodeled in the Italian Villa style seen here. It is the only remaining Italianate style house in Hale County, Alabama. This part of Hale County was taken from Marengo County when Hale was created in 1867.
