Description: Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) lunge feeding, as seen from the kayak launch ramp area between the Cal Poly Pier and the Ole Harford Port San Luis Pier in Port San Luis, (Avila) CA. Two Humpback Whales were lunge feeding amongst a bird and sea lion feeding frenzy in the bay fairly near shore, and amongst dozens of kayakers and Standup Paddle (SUP) boarders within striking distance. 22 August 2012.
