Image: Italian referendum 1946 support for republic
Description: The differing colours on this map show the percentage of support for the introduction of a republic in the 31 constituencies at the Italian referendum of 1946. A total of 54.3 % of the voters backed the new form of government and with it the abolition of the monarchy. Regionally, there were clear differences in the voting behaviour. South Tyrol (apart from a few municipalities) and the areas of Trieste and Gorizia didn't take part in the referendum.
