Description: Ceanothus arboreus—felt-leaved ceanothus. A fast grower that is one of the few ceanothus that reaches tree size, The species often grows to well over twenty feet tall in cultivation. This drought-tolerant species has been in cultivation since the 19th century. Native to the Channel Islands of Santa Catalina, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa. Populations occasionally found on the mainland have escaped from cultivation. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
