Description: Construction details are exposed in this area, including the original Carnegie steel I-beams and the way the roof slates were tied to the beams. The slanted skylights allow in natural light, fit with the architectural design of the home from the exterior, and avoid a flat glass roof. Below, the flat glass ceiling allows natural light to filter into the art gallery, originally the only light source for the room. Photo of the upper skylights over the art gallery in the James J. Hill House. Photography by: Corrie Potter Taken February 19, 2008. Collection of The Minnesota Historical Society
