Description: Size comparison of MCZ 1285, the largest known specimen of Kronosaurus queenslandicus, a giant Australian pliosaurid. The lighter individual in the background represents the initial size estimates obtained from the mounted skeleton at Harvard, which was reconstructed with too many vertebrae. The revised vertebral count from Cv1-Cd9 is based on McHenry (2009), as is the newer skull shape. The silhouettes are scaled to a mandibular length of around 2.6 metres (8.5 ft), which produces a total length of over 10 metres (33 ft). The diver silhoutte from File:Scuba33.jpg, which is by NOAA and in the public domain. References McHenry, Colin R.
