Description: President Jokowi Welcomes PM Mahathir's Visit with a State Ceremony President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo today, Friday, June 29, 2018, welcomed the arrival of Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Malaysian First Lady Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java. PM Mahathir’s entourage arrived at around 10:00 AM WIB. Students dressed in traditional Nusantara attire were seen welcoming their arrival, waving the flags of both countries. In addition, the reception was enlivened by the presence of rampak gendang art performances, a marching band, and a cavalry unit from the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres). The reception procession was then followed by a state welcoming ceremony for both leaders. At that moment, the national anthems of both countries were played, accompanied by 19 cannon salutes. After the state ceremony, the President invited PM Mahathir to enter the palace to sign the state guestbook. In the Teratai Room, the President and First Lady Iriana, together with PM Mahathir and First Lady Siti Hasmah, also had a photo session. The event continued with a tree-planting ceremony in the backyard of the palace. On this occasion, the two heads of state planted a tree with the Latin name Hopea odorata, which is known in Indonesia as the meranti tree. The series of state ceremonies proceeded with a tête-à-tête meeting between President Jokowi and PM Mahathir on the veranda of the palace. Meanwhile, First Lady Iriana Joko and First Lady Siti Hasmah prepared for the state guest companion program. After the veranda discussion, the two heads of state returned to the palace to prepare for a joint press statement. Accompanying the President during the welcoming ceremony were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendi, Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri, Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjoyo, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong, and Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana.
