Description: Geostationary or areostationary orbit around Mars is 10,085 miles, less than half that of Earth's. This hexagonal solar array has 930 solar panels that are ~25 feet in diameter, the solar cells could be made from advanced silicon 300 mm wafers. This space based solar farm would produce ~100 MW of power. It could use laser beams, microwaves, or high strength tethered cable to get the energy down to the martian surface. The solar panels could be bifacial so they can recieve solar on both sides.
