Description: Statue in Nuneaton, Warwickshire of the 19th-century writer George Eliot (1819–80; real name Mary Ann Evans). She was born at South Farm on the Arbury estate, southwest of the town. The statue is in a part of Newdegate Street informally called Newdegate Square. In the background is the former Midland Bank building, built in 1898.
