Description: Die Verleihung des Wappens erfolgte am 31. Mai 1952. Der Wahlspruch (Wo die aufgehende Sonne zuerst zu sehen ist.) verweist auf die geographische Lage Timors als östlichste portugiesische Kolonie. Sandelholz war einst das wichtigste Exportgut der Insel und das Hellebardenbündel soll bereits auf alten Wappen der Siedlung im 18. Jahrhundert zu finden gewesen sein. Die Mauerkrone symbolisiert Dili als Hauptstadt der Überseeprovinz.
