Description: Internal wiring of the U.S. Army analog of the Japanese w:Type B Cipher Machine. This is the improved version of March 1944. All three stepping switch stages for the "twenties letters" are shown. The large rectangle panels with many wires implement the substitution matrices for each stage. Each twenties stepping switch is beneath its wiring panel. The three black connectors on the wiring panels are for the rotor (ROT) and stator (STA) connections to adjacent stages, and for the front panel indicator lights (L) that show the position of each rotor. The stepping switches for the "sixes" letters are near the middle. Exhibit in the National Cryptologic Museum, Fort Meade, Maryland, USA.
