Description: View from the floor of the Paradox Basin. The sequence of strata is disrupted by numerous faults parallel to the cliff face from solution collapse of the underlying salt. Low gray hills on the valley floor are Paradox Fm. (Pennsylvanian). Sequence to top of cliffs in this photo: Triassic - Moenkopi, Chinle, and Wingate ; Jurassic - Kayenta, Entrada, Wanaka, Morrison, capped by Burro Canyon and Naturita. The Cutler Fm., overlying the Paradox is mostly faulted out.
