Richard Petty drove the car to his 186th career NASCAR victory, at the 1979 Daytona 500. This is not the car that Petty drove in 1984. This is the 1979 car that Petty drove to win the 1979 Daytona 500. The 1984 car is a Pontiac Grand Prix. This is not the car that Richard Petty won the 1979 Daytona 500 in. This is a show car built by Petty Enterprises to commemorate Richard Petty's 1979 Championship. The 1979 Daytona 500 winning car had no stripes or logos on the top surfaces but was totally Petty Blue.
