It is further listed along with the nearby totem pole and Pioneer Building, ID #77001340. There is also a broader inclusion for the Pioneer Square - Skid Row Historical District. The original pergola was designed by Julian F. Everett and built in 1909. The original 1909 Pergola was accidentally knocked over by a truck in January 2001 (Gene Johnson, Pioneer Square pergola leveled by truck, January 15, 2001); the current replica (shown here) was inaugurated in August 2002 (The View from Denny Park: News and Views from the Superintendent, Seattle Parks and Recreation newsletter, No. 28. July 30, 2002).
