Description: Trains pass one another in the Lakeyard switching yard in northwest Portland, Oregon. Marshland and lakes once occupied this area at the lower end of Balch Creek. The wetlands were filled and converted to heavy industry after the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition of 1905 was held near here on an artificial island in Guild's Lake.
