Description: This type of registration card issued by the en:Estonian Citizens' Committee in 1989 as a recognition of Estonian citizenship. The cards were issued as a result of a citizen initiative and this functioned in a way as a "referendum" for independence of Estonia from the Soviet Union. By 1990 these cards were issued for as many as 790,000 Estonians. Digitized during the Europeana 1989 Collection days in Warsaw, Poland. Brought by Tunne Kelam.
