Description: The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home in Dixon, IL (1891). The 40th President of the United States lived here from 1920 to 1923. Reagan's family relocated often: he was born in Tampico, but also spent time in Galesburg, Monmouth, and Chicago. Ronald's father Jack had a job in the Pitney Shoe Store in Dixon at Commercial & Galena Avenues. Reagan was baptised into the Disciples of Christ faith in 1922 when he was eleven. While living at the house, Reagan once invited several black people turned away from a local hotel to stay with him at his house. The Reagans moved to the other side of the Rock River at 348 W. Everett in 1923. Ronald attended Northside High School on Morgan Street, even though his brother continued to go to the Southside High School. Ronald graduated in 1926, and took his first job as a lifeguard in 1927. He moved with his family in 1928 to 226 Lincolnway Avenue before leaving later that year for Eureka College.
