Description: Analysis of color choices for a simple chart, table or graph that would be safe for most forms of color-blindness (colour-blindness). Really wanted to stay in the green/yellow/red as opposed to blues & yellows, but knew enough to realize that red and green is difficult for about 8% of males and 0.5% of females. Finally settled on three colors depicted in the center square. I used vischeck (online) to test that the colors were readily distinguishable for those with deuteranopia, protanopia, tritanopia, and finally in greyscale, analagous to achromatopsia. There are many other forms of color-blindness, but these are the four extremes, so if it works with these, it should work with the others. The selected colors in this example are: #ADD, #AADDDD, or rgb(170,221,221) #FEC, #FFEECC, or rgb(255,238,204) #F99, #FF9999, or rgb(255,153,153) They can be seen at en:United States Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
