Description: The spread of main scripts in Europe. However the information shown on this map did not depict an accurate portrait of Fraktur usage in Europe at the time. It was in fact far less used than shown, as both Denmark and Norway had switched to using antiqua in a majority of publications, and in Germany itself Fraktur was not an exclusive script (as for example can be seen from the map legend), antiqua was also used in that country. In Finland, antiqua was used for Swedish language, but Finnish-language publications were still Fraktur-majority in 1901.
