Description: Caption on image: 365. The Loop, Lewiston Hill Highway, Lewiston, Idaho Built in 1917 the Lewiston Hill Highway served to connect nothern and southern Idaho. The 2000 foot grade had 64 sharp turns in 9.5 miles, which allowed cars to travel at 20 to 30 miles an hour. The road still exists today but was replaced by a newer grade in 1979.
