Description: 1723 (10 George I) power of attorney on pro-forma document of South Sea Company, granted by Admiral Sir Coke Mews ?? to (his lawyer/ co-trustee?) Thomas Marriott of Lincolns Inn, Middlesex (whose will was proved 19 June 1724), who jointly held stock in the South Sea Company. This is not a share certificate as erroneously listed in the catalogue of National Maritime Museum, London: "1733 (sic) share certificate of the South Sea Company. National Maritime Museum, London, ID: D9909. Showing the Company's coat of arms and the Latin motto: A Gadibus usque Auroram ("From Cadiz to Dawn", Juvenal, Satires, 10)". Signature of Sir Coke Mews ?? witnessed by Rev Humphrey Tucker, minister of the parish of Clifton in Gloucestershire, and two churchwardens.
