Description: The "Shockoe Hill African Burying Ground", established 1816, located at 5th and Hospital St., Richmond, for the interment of free people of color and the enslaved. Visible in the photo is the old Talley's Auto Service Center (formerly a Sunoco gas station), a billboard, I-64, 5th St, and the 5th Street Viaduct (Curtis Holt Sr. Bridge). All of these things exist on the Shockoe Hill African Burying Ground. This image shows just a small portion of the burial ground site.
