Description: Map of the Siege of Bangkok (1688). Siege of the French fortress (A) by Siamese troops and batteries (C), in Bangkok, 1688. The enclosure of the village of Bangkok represented in the lower left corner (M) is today's Thonburi. General Desfarges survived a four-month siege by the Siamese (C) in the French fortress (A) in Bangkok, in 1688. On the river in the right side is a Siamese ship. The bottom right corner is a map of the Chao Phraya River. Folding plan of Banko Fortress (Bangkok) made by Jean Vollant des Verquains (1658-1729). He was a French architect and engineer, inspired by Vauban's works. From the first edition of the French book: "Histoire de la revolution de Siam. Arrive'e en l'anne'e 1688." Publisher: "A Lille, chez Jean Chrysostome Malte, Imprimeur jure, rue Equermoife, au bon Pafteur 1691."
