Description: Coleshill's crocketed spire is a dominant feature of the North Warwickshire landscape. A familar landmark seen from the Motorway network, it's a handy reminder not to forget to take the next exit! The church is enormous, telling of the one time importance of the town. The parish church of ST. PETER AND ST. PAUL consists of a chancel, with a north vestry, nave, north and south aisles and porches, and a west tower with a spire. The building was very drastically restored in 1868–9 and much of the evidence of its historical development was lost. The earliest surviving parts of the structure are the four eastern bays of the seven-bay arcades; these date from c. 1340, indicating an original nave of about 54 ft. in length to which the aisles were added. The nave was lengthened subsequently about 32 ft. and the west tower was added From: 'Parishes: Coleshill', A History of the County of Warwick: Volume 4: Hemlingford Hundred (1947), pp. 47-57.
