Description: Analysis of the total radioactivity rings of wood (Scots pine) After the Second World War and the atomic bomb , many atmospheric nuclear tests were (in 1950) released large quantities of various radionuclides and radioactive isotopes (including carbon 14) in the air, enough to double the normal rate of C-14 from the atmosphere , and due to the increase in biomass and necromass (first panel). The right-hand peak corresponds to the release into the atmosphere from C-14 by the Chernobyl disaster. Note: there is a slight spread in tree rings corresponding to the months or years prior to an event.
