Description: The Double Butte Cemetery was established in 1888 and is located at 2505 W. Broadway Rd. The cemetery was named after the buttes in its background. The property is listed in the Tempe Historic Property Register. Among the early Tempe settlers buried in the cemetery are Charles Trumbull Hayden (founder of Tempe), Carl T. Hayden (Senator), Benjamin B. Moeur (Governor) and John Howard Pyle (Governor). The cemetery was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on July 23, 2013, reference number 13000020.
