Description: Common Oʻahu moa nalo Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands; Extinct Moa nalo were flightless goose-like ducks. At least four species were known to exist: Tortoise-jaw moa nalo (Chelychelynechen quassus), Clumsy moa nalo (Ptaiochen pau), Maui Nui moa nalo (Thambetochen chauliodus), and Common Oʻahu moa nalo (T. xanion)--all now extinct. These specimens came from the Barber's Point sinkholes, Oʻahu, Hawaiian Islands. Identified by the late Alan C. Ziegler in 1992.
