Description: Thayer House, a two-story wood-framed building at 77 East Genesee Street between State Street and Leitch Avenue was built in 1806 as a residence for John Legg. When Legg's son-in-law, Joel Thayer, aquired the property in 1862, he added the mansard roof and ironwork, an apiary, solarium and formal gardens, turning what had been a transitional Federal-Greek Revival style house into sn elaborate Second Empire style residence. The entrance porch was remodeled c.1925. It has now been converted into condominiums, and is located within the Skaneatles Historic District. (Sources: [1], [2])
