Description: Christmas portrait of the Brown family in 1906. Those identified are Peter Brown (top row with beard and holding child). Janet Brown is seated second from left next to her mother Mary Brown (spotted blouse). Peter Brown jnr. is seated second from right and Edith and Ali Brown are on the grass in foreground. Historical note: Peter Brown, a farmer from Mount Albert, purchased 136 acres (allotment 189-Parish of Takapuna)from Mrs Hammond in 1876. He cleared the land for cattle grazing and established an orchard, vineyard and apiary. The farm was subdivided in 1916. - Exploring the East Coast Bays by Wilson R.G. & Smith R.A. Page 17.
