Description: The Chapel, Jesus College, Cambridge This view is southwest across Chapel Court. The college was founded in 1496 by Bishop John Alcock of Ely, on the site of a Benedictine nunnery, and the old title: "The College of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John the Evangelist and the glorious Virgin Saint Radegund, near Cambridge" became "Jesus College" from the dedication of the chapel. See http://conference.jesus.cam.ac.uk/facilities/history.htm for more historical notes.
