Description: The Oakenshaw Cross, Wyke Lane, Oakenshaw Frank Peel, writing in 1893, did not know the history of this monument but guessed correctly that it was erected by the lord of the manor, Dr Richardson of Bierley Hall. It had four sundials, of which at least two survive as the styles can be seen sticking out from the stone. There was originally a weather-vane.
