Getting Around Oakenshaw
Oakenshaw has good ways to travel, especially by train.
Train Travel
The village is served by Low Moor railway station. This station is on the Calder Valley line, which is a train route. From here, you can catch trains to big cities like Leeds, Bradford Interchange, and Manchester Victoria.
There used to be another train line called the Spen Valley Line. This line went from Low Moor to Mirfield. It passed through towns like Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike. Another part of this line went to Dewsbury. However, this train line closed down in 1965. Now, that old railway path is a popular walking and cycling route called the Spen Valley Greenway.
