Description: Wari tunic fragment, 650-900 C.E. Wool and cotton compound weave. 47.7x28.8 cm. When the Nazca region fell to Huari domination, their naturalistic iconography succumbed to foreign influence. A Huari staff figure runs upon the surface of this cloth fragment, yet the black-outlined form and interest in overall color patterning, the distinctive marks of the Nazca artist, remain.
