Description: Aerial view (to the northeast) of New Hogan Lake and New Hogan Dam — on the Calaveras River in Calaveras County, California. The dam is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Stockton, California. The dam was constructed in 1963 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and hydroelectric power production on the Calaveras River.
