Description: This photograph of a Herostone (virgal) with old Kannada inscription (1028 A.D. ie, Saka 950) from the rule of Western (Kalyani) Chalukya King Jayasimha II was taken by me at the Praneshvara temple (also spelt Praneshwara or Pranesvara) in Talagunda in the Shimoga district of Karnataka state, India.
