Description: This image of an unknown woman in June of 1910 shows her standing on the road grade of the wagon road from Seton Lake to Lillooet, which was the last leg of the series of roads and lake ferries comprising the Douglas Road from Harrison Lake to the Fraser River. This section of road remained in use after the construction of the Pacific Great Eastern railway a few years later, and served as the connection from the railway station at Craig Lodge on Seton Lake into town, as the original railway stataion in Lillooet was in today's East Lillooet, with the rail line using an older, now-demolished bridge just south of the location of this photo. When the railway was re-routed during World War II, the road grade seen here became incorporated into the railway's new routing into and through town. As this image was taken in 1910, it is in the public domain under Canadian copyright law. The photographer, Frank Swannell, was a famous government surveyor whose career spanned the era of pack trains with the air age. His photos and documents comprise a special section of the BC Provincial Archives.
