Description: This is the logo owned by West Bromwich Albion F.C. for the club's official crest until 2006. It is a historical logo. Its historical usage is as follows: This is a logo / badge / crest of West Bromwich Albion F.C. used from c.1900. The crest of West Bromwich Albion F.C. first appeared early in the 20th century after the club moved to The Hawthorns. The hawthorn bush which appears on the club's crest originates from the fact The Hawthorns, Albion's home since 1900, was built on a site where hawthorn bushes had grown. The hawthorn bush is the favourite bush of the Song thrush — known as a thostle in the Black Country. These birds were a regular site on the pre-stadium estate, and continued to make the area around The Hawthorns their home for years after.[1] The throstle was chosen to appear on the badge because the public house in which the team used to change kept a pet thrush in a cage. It also gave rise to Albion's early nickname, the Throstles. The logo was retired in 2006 and replaced by a new badge, which enabled the club to safeguard its identity and better control the usage of the club's official logo.
