Description: Will (William H.) and Etta Chopek Englert (right) are joined by her sister, Emma Chopek Unrath, in this photograph taken soon after the Englerts were married during 1909. The picnic site at a rock outcrop along the Iowa River is thought to be above the east river bank across from City Park in Iowa City near what now is the University of Iowa's Mayflower Hall dormitory. During this era before family cameras came into wide use, several local photographers made rounds offering their services to potential customers for outdoor photographs such as this one. This practice probably resulted in this image, the original of which is in the family archive of grandniece Carol Chopek Seydel.
