Imogen Rhia Herrad is a German historian, translator, writer, and broadcaster. She was born in 1967 and grew up in Germany. She has also lived in Wales, London, and Argentina. Imogen learned Welsh and writes in both German and English.

Her short stories and articles have appeared in magazines and collections in Wales, Canada, and the US. She has also created radio programs for German public radio. These programs covered interesting topics like the history of sheep, dragons, and the apple. She also explored the story of the Mapuche people from Patagonia.

Imogen Rhia Herrad's children's story, The Wind’s Bride, won third prize in the London Writers’ Competition. Her story The Accident was also recognized for the Raymond Carver Short Story Awards. She wrote a novel called Caratacus' Daughter. This book is set in Iron Age Britain and Ancient Rome and received a grant from Literature Wales.

Her travel book, "Beyond the Pampas: in Search of Patagonia", was published in 2012. She also won a prize from the University of Bonn for her university paper about Ancient Rome.

Today, Imogen works as a translator and editor at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies. She is also studying for her PhD about ancient Sparta and teaches ancient history at the University of Bonn.
