Inez Barron (born February 16, 1946) is an American educator and politician. She served in the New York City Council for the 42nd district from 2014 to 2021. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Her district included areas like Brownsville, Canarsie, and East New York in Brooklyn. Before joining the City Council, she was a State Assemblywoman for New York's 60th district.

About Inez Barron
Early Life and Education
Inez Barron was born in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York. From the 1960s, she was active in her community. She also worked as an educator for many years.
She studied at Hunter College within the City University of New York. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. Later, she attended Bank Street College of Education. She received a Master of Science degree in Reading and Special Education. Barron taught in New York Public Schools for over 36 years.
Becoming a State Assemblywoman
In 2008, Inez Barron decided to run for a political office. She won the election in November 2008. This made her the State Assemblywoman for New York's 40th district. She served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2013.
Serving in the New York City Council
Moving to the City Council
In 2013, Inez Barron's husband, Charles Barron, could not run for his seat in the New York City Council again. This was because of rules about how long a person can serve. Inez Barron then ran for his seat in the City Council. She won the election.
At the same time, Charles Barron ran for the Assembly seat that Inez Barron was leaving. He also won his election. Inez Barron officially joined the New York City Council on January 1, 2014. She served there until December 31, 2021.
