Ingeborg Feustel was a German writer. She wrote many books for children. She was born on January 1, 1926, and passed away on November 23, 1998. She also wrote stories for kids' radio and TV shows.
She lived in East Germany until 1989. This was a country that existed after World War II. But her stories were popular everywhere in Germany, even before the country became one again.
Her Life Story
Ingeborg Feustel was born in Berlin, Germany. When she was a student, she said she was a bit rebellious.
In 1945, she became a teacher. She taught in Blankenfelde-Mahlow, a town near Berlin. After World War II, Germany was divided. New teachers were needed. Ingeborg trained under a special program for new teachers.
She married Günther Feustel, who also became a teacher. They lived in the part of Germany that became East Germany in 1949. About ten years later, Ingeborg decided to become a full-time writer for children. Her husband had already done the same.
Her children's books are still remembered today. One famous book was "Antonio und Großvater Autobus" ("Antonio and Grandfather Antrobus"). It came out in 1965. This book helped many readers learn about distant Italy.
Ingeborg Feustel also wrote many children's songs. She worked on children's radio shows in East Germany. She created famous puppet characters like Pittiplatsch, the dog Moppi, and Plumps. These characters appeared in popular TV fairy tales and the evening Sandmännchen (Little Sandman) animations. These shows were very successful on East German television.
